Chapter 874 The Last Mission: Family Reunion
Chapter 874 The Last Mission: Family Reunion
Day Ninety-One…
Jane gave Iron Lady, Mystique, and Black Rose some instructions. She needed her help to implement her plan.
As of now, Monica was still clueless that her underlings were captured by the Phantom Assassin Guild. They needed Abigail and those three kidnappers to manipulate and deceive Monica.
After talking to her comrades, Dave approached her.
"Miss Jane, can we talk?" He looked serious.
Jane nodded, leading him outside. They didn't want Abigail to hear their conversation.
"It's about the kidnappers. Can you hand them over to me? I need to punish them by law. I also want to catch Helena and put her in jail. She committed a crime."
Jane fell silent for a moment. She understood Dave's motive. After all, he was still a police officer. He wanted to deal with Monica using the law. But Jane had another plan for her.
"I'm sorry, Dave. But I can't let you do that. I have scores to settle with her." Jane said with conviction.
Dave was taken aback for a moment. He was clueless about where the hostility between the two women had started. He didn't know the story at all.
"What do you mean by that? Sister-in-law? Are you going to put justice in your hands?" Dave looked at her worriedly.
"Yes. And you can't stop me," Jane replied truthfully.
"Are you going to handcuff me now?" she asked him, assessing Dave's reactions.
Dave wasn't able to respond. He had conflicting thoughts right now.
Jane shifted her gaze in the direction of her sister. From her current spot, she could see Black Rose exchanging conversations with Abigail.
"Dave, I brought you here because I wanted you to know that you trusted the wrong people. And if you really want to protect my sister, you must stay alert and be cautious of them. But it doesn't mean that I want to involve you."
"What I need from you is your reassurance that no matter what happens, you will be there for my sister, protecting and loving her… making her happy." Jane clarified her real intention to Dave.
"You don't need to catch the culprit… because I'm the one doing it. I won't allow you to hinder my plan."
Dave lowered his gaze, unable to find the right words to say. He could feel that Jane was serious and she was giving him a warning– 'Don't get involved!'
Jane moved closer, holding his shoulders. "You have to think it over, Dave. I'm not forcing you to do something against your will. I am merely telling you what I intended to do. No matter what action you will choose, I won't mind it at all. But one thing is for sure… I deal with my enemies with my own hands."
Dave nodded, trying his best to understand Jane. Though he couldn't decide yet, he respected Jane's decision and appreciated her honesty.
"By the way, Dave. I need to borrow my sister. I'll introduce her to our father." Jane changed the topic to lighten the atmosphere. She could sense Dave's heavy tension earlier.
"You found your father?" He asked, surprised.
"Yes. He is waiting for us."
Dave smiled faintly. He was happy for Abigail. She would be reunited with her family. "Okay. You can take her with you."
"Dave, one last thing." Jane paused, staring at him intently. "Please don't tell Vincent and Helena that Abigail is safe."
Dave nodded in understanding. "I will."
Jane gave him a grateful smile. She didn't expect Dave to cooperate with her. She needed his silence so that she could fool Monica.
After their conversation, Jane and Dave returned inside the house, joining Abigail and Black Rose.
"Sis. Let's go somewhere. Our father wants to see you." n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Abigail was stunned upon hearing that.
"Our father?"
"Yes. Our father. I found him."
Abigail's eyes became teary. She felt so happy to hear this piece of good news.
"Okay, Sis. Let's go. I can't wait to see our father!"
"Dave, you can come with us so that you can meet your future father-in-law," Jane invited him. She knew that Abigail would feel more at ease if Dave was with her.
Meanwhile, Dave was at a loss for words for a moment. He wasn't ready to face Abigail's father yet. But he was curious about him.
"Is it alright if I tag along with you? I wonder if he will like me as his son-in-law?" Dave scratched his face, smiling nervously.
Both Jane and Abigail giggled at Dave's anxious expression.
"Don't be nervous. Our father will not eat you. He might interrogate you but he will not harm you," Jane reassured him, smiling teasingly.
"O-Okay. I'll go with you."
Jane said goodbye to Black Rose and her comrades. As she left the Phantom Assassin Guild's property, she texted Nathan, telling him to bring her father to the Sparks Mansion. She couldn't bring Abigail and Dave to Syphiruz Mafia Headquarters. A few minutes later, the most awaited family reunion happened at the Sparks Mansion. Mr. Hiroshi couldn't believe that his wife was pregnant when she left.
Abigail was his second daughter. All these years, he didn't know about her existence. And he only searched for Jane.
"My daughter. It's me… your father." Mr. Hiroshi hugged Abigail tightly. He felt guilty for being separated from his daughters. He failed his duty as their father. "I'm so sorry. This old man has so many regrets. I failed you… both of you… including your mother."
"Pa, stop blaming yourself. The important thing is… we are now reunited." Jane rubbed his back, consoling him.
Abigail nodded. "Yes, Pa. I'm blaming you for what happened. At least now, I understand that my parents didn't hate me. You didn't intentionally abandon me."
"I will never abandon my daughters. You are my life."
Jane felt complete watching this heartwarming scene. She simply slipped out of the room, giving Mr. Hiroshi and Abigail some private time alone.
She immediately searched for Nathan. And she found him in his study room.
"Nate!" Jane called him out, running in his direction. She pounced on him as soon as she reached his spot.
Nathan could only catch her, holding her body in his arms. "Careful."
Jane let out a soft giggle as she sunk further into his embrace. "Nate…" she uttered his name affectionately.
"What?" Nathan asked, fighting a smile. He assumed that Jane felt so happy today because she had reunited with her father.
Jane gazed up, staring at his gorgeous face. She raised her hand, caressing his cheek.
"I'm going to settle everything. After that, we can live happily together with Ethan."
Nathan slightly frowned. He didn't know what she was up to.
"What do you mean… settling everything? With whom?" He asked her curiously. He could sense that Jane was still hiding something from him.
But Jane just shook her head, sticking her tongue out. "I'm not going to tell. It's a secret."
Nathan's face contorted when he heard that. He didn't like Jane keeping secret from him. He wanted to know everything.
With a dark expression on his face, Nathan lifted her, bringing her to the room attached to his study.
Jane was caught off guard by his sudden action. But she didn't resist him.
As they entered the room, Nathan pinned her against the door and leaned in, his face mere inches from hers. "If you want to gain my trust, you have to tell me everything," he said with a commanding tone.
