As evening approached, Yang Yi began to tally up his catch for the day.

15 eyeball fruits, 9 long-legged sardines, 1 red-lipped eel, and 3 cyst-spike pufferfish.

The fishing nets were also covered in 3 starfish and 1 one-armed crab.

"Not bad!" Yang Yi nodded in approval.

His goal for the day was to gather more eyeball fruits in preparation for the harsh winter sea regions ahead.

He sent some of the fish he planned to eat to the laboratory, then grabbed a few stones and a bit of wood from the cabin, intending to try making fire.

He found an open spot on the deck and used the stones to form a simple circle, placing some spider hairs inside.

They were no longer useful for making clothes, as they were too few in number. So, Yang Yi decided to use them to start a fire instead.

After all, hair — especially the thicker kind — was highly flammable when dry, making it ideal for starting a fire.

He prepared the wood and, using the Sea Serpent’s Fang, scraped it against the flint. Sparks flew, and the spider hairs quickly caught fire.

Seeing the flames, Yang Yi’s face lit up with excitement.

"Survival really does depend on being able to start a fire!" he thought.

He took advantage of the flames and placed the prepared wood inside, cutting it into smaller pieces to make it easier to catch fire.

Once the fire was stable, he added larger pieces of wood.

It was very safe to start a campfire on the Nightmare Star as long as no other debris was nearby. The ship’s deck was protected by a layer of bone armor, making it almost impossible for fire to spread.

"Now I need something to hang the eyeball fruits nearby with..." Yang Yi glanced around, thinking of a solution.

At that moment, several bony arms reached out from the deck, each opening its hand, seemingly wanting to help him.

"What's this?" Yang Yi was a bit confused.

It seemed like the arms wanted him to hand over the eyeball fruits.

Yang Yi complied.

He watched as the bony arms carefully lifted the eyeball fruits, holding them in the air around the campfire.

"Is this okay?"

When he focused his thoughts on a need, the arms would instinctively gather and try to help.

Soon, nine bony arms grabbed the long-legged sardines and started grilling them, with no need for Yang Yi to do anything himself.

However, he still had to keep an eye on the process. The arms didn’t know how to cook properly and would just blindly follow orders.

If left unattended, they would continue to cook the fish until it turned into charcoal, and then into ash...

"This is pretty useful!" Yang Yi nodded in satisfaction, eating one of the grilled sardines and leaving a message for Suna.

"Suna, the bony arms on the Nightmare Star can be controlled. When you focus on a need, they will come to help. You should try it!"

"I knew that already!" came the reply.

"Huh? Why didn’t you tell me?"

"I thought you were giving me permission."

"Uh..." Yang Yi was speechless.

He stopped grilling the fish and grabbed the two cooked sardines, heading to the laboratory, where he happened to find Suna busy with something.

A few bony arms acted like assistants, fetching various tools for her, greatly increasing her efficiency. Some of the arms were even spinning test tubes rapidly, shaking the liquids inside...

"A centrifuge...?"

Yang Yi’s eyes widened. He couldn't help but admire Suna's creativity.

He handed her the two grilled sardines.

"Try this, I seasoned it with salt. Should be good!"

Suna took a bite, chewed, and after confirming the taste was good, finished the fish with a satisfied look.

"Is it good?" she asked.

"Yeah, I bought a flint and left it in the cabin. Also made a temporary campfire on the deck."

"Alright! If I can start a fire, then I can try concentrating the magic potions..." Suna rubbed her chin, seeming to be lost in thought.

Yang Yi came here to call her back to sleep.

However, just before leaving, Yang Yi noticed a large glass tank in the laboratory, filled with more than a dozen baby spiders, some dead fish were placed in the tank to feed them.

"Are you raising spiders?" Yang Yi asked.

"Yeah, the survival rate is very low, out of dozens of eggs, only about a dozen hatched."

"Why are you raising spiders?" Yang Yi frowned.

Because these spiders weren't exactly pleasant, neither edible nor particularly pleasant to look at —there seemed to be little point in raising them.

"Don't you think the laboratory could use some small test subjects?" Suna casually replied.

"Alright then."

Yang Yi gave a few seconds of silent mourning for the newborn spiders, then left the laboratory.

The Nightmare Star continued its usual course, sailing at 40 knots.

Unless something unexpected happened, the ship would  be entering the extreme winter sea region in no time. 

Early the following morning, Yang Yi was woken up by the chill of the air.

The first thing he did was to reach for his left shoulder, then exhale in relief.

He had had a nightmare.

In the dream, a second head had appeared on his left shoulder, and it even had his own face!

It was terrifying!

When he woke up, he found himself drenched in sweat, the cold sea wind outside making him feel even colder.

His room had a draft.

Yang Yi hurriedly put on a sweater, and only then did he begin to regain his composure.

He began to think back, trying to remember exactly what the face in the dream looked like.

After a few seconds, Yang Yi finally had an answer, but it only made him feel even more afraid.

The face was that of a woman, blurry but unmistakably feminine, and quite beautiful!

Then there were...  pair of blood-red eyes.

Thinking of this, goosebumps appeared all over Yang Yi’s body.

Did he merge with Suna?

Had he turned into a two-headed demon?

How terrifying!

Yang Yi slapped himself on the face to calm down.

By now, he had gradually come to understand this nightmare.

It wasn’t a prophetic vision, but more of a warning dream — a premonition of danger.

Yang Yi classified these kinds of premonitions into three categories.

First, if he didn't die in the nightmare, it meant the danger wasn't deadly. For example, a dream where sea monsters and Suna pointed guns at him.

Second, if he died in the nightmare, it meant the danger could indeed be fatal, like being attacked by a drowning creature.

The third, and the one Yang Yi feared the most, was the kind of dream where the details were too difficult to remember. Attempting to recall it would cause a headache. So far, he had had such a dream once, where he saw a massive spider, likely representing the Spider Queen.

As per his most recent dream, Yang Yi didn't die, and it seemed more curious than terrifying, so it was safe. His life was not in danger.

He made a mental note to stay near the witch’s laboratory in the near future.

He sat on the bed for a moment, completely calming down, then put on his pirate outfit and stepped out.

The sea breeze outside carried a chilly bite.
