Chapter 620: Chapter 620 - Knuckles for the King
Melliandra placed a blueprint on the table, folding her arms as she waited for his reaction.
Broken picked it up, expecting a design for the sniper rifle they had discussed earlier. Instead, he found a blueprint for a pair of knuckles-an unusual weapon suited only for Kingsley.
"I want you to craft this for me."
"Okay." He shifted his attention to the materials she had prepared, meticulously checking that everything was accounted for.
Satisfied, he moved toward his forge.
"Why didn't you say anything?"
Broken glanced up. "I did. I said okay."
Her teeth clenched as she let out a sharp breath. "Why don't you ever ask why I want you to craft that item?"
"This is for Kingsley, right?"
"Yes," she confirmed. "But would it kill you to at least ask me why?"
"I didn't ask because I already figured it out."
"Just do your best. I don't care about the grade. I'll pay you fairly, as always," she said sharply before storming out of the room.
Broken stared after her, his brow furrowing.
He took a deep breath, exhaling slowly as a smile spread across his face. Determined like never before, he resolved to pour his heart into crafting a new weapon, aspiring to achieve the rare and coveted Legendary grade.
The thought of Kingsley receiving a finely made weapon filled him with satisfaction.
Crafting a new weapon for everyone was an ambitious goal, but it was also grueling and time- consuming. Balancing his priorities became essential, as countless other responsibilities demanded his attention. Yet, he knew he couldn't shy away from the task-it was something he had to see through.
The idea of crafting while traveling struck him as a potential game-changer. If he could somehow set up a portable forge inside a moving carriage, it would save valuable time on long journeys. However, the practicality of such an idea posed another problem: the standard carriages available in the Dissidia Kingdom weren't large or advanced enough to accommodate a forging setup. To realize this plan, he'd need a larger, more sophisticated carriage.
His mind wandered to the central continent, particularly to the nation ruled by high elves. The region boasted skilled Gunsmiths and Mechanics who had mastered innovations like carriages powered by Monster Stones and other fascinating creations. The possibilities intrigued him, igniting a curiosity about how these advancements might simplify his life and improve his -craft.
To gain this knowledge, however, Broken would need to travel to the central continent. The question lingered in his mind: could he afford the time for such a journey?
A few days later, Broken informed Melliandra that the knuckle was nearly finished. And so she returned to the workshop and observed closely as Broken carried out the final steps of the process.
As Broken completed the finishing touches, a sudden burst of green energy radiated from the knuckles, signaling its exceptional quality. It was a Unique-grade weapon!
Melliandra couldn't hold back her excitement. She leapt with joy.
"Unique! It's a Unique grade!" Her face lit up, glowing with happiness.
Realizing how openly she was celebrating, she quickly tried to rein in her enthusiasm.
"Thank you..." she murmured softly.
Broken blinked, caught off guard. It might have been the first time he'd heard her say those words.
"You're welcome," he replied.
Melliandra nodded quickly. "I'll pay you well! It's 350 gold, right?"
"Yes."
"I'll give you 400 gold," she declared firmly. "Consider it proof that I value your work and can afford to show it. I'll send the gold over soon." With that, she hurried out of the workshop.
The news of Broken crafting yet another Unique-grade item quickly spread throughout the guild.
"Damn, Broken! How do you make producing high-grade items look so effortless?" Jovina exclaimed. "If you weren't our Guild Master, I'd swear you were cheating!"
"Thanks, Broken, for crafting the weapon. And Melliandra, thank you as well," Kingsley said. Melliandra scoffed. "Oh, for goodness' sake! I'm just making sure no one I work with becomes a burden to me. So you'd better shut up and use it properly!"
Optimus chimed in, "I want to force him to focus solely on making weapons for everyone. But I guess I can't exactly do that now that he's our Guild Master..."
"Khi khi khi," Goldrich added. "I'm willing to pay double if you prioritize my commission. Just putting that out there."
Jovina said, "Why don't we hear much from Skywarden anymore? You've been so quiet lately."
Skywarden snapped back immediately. "Shut up! I'm busy, unlike you fools who have nothing better to do than flood the guild chat!"
Freya said, "Broken is the type who never tries to meet anyone's expectations. He only works for his own amusement, ha ha ha."
"You're so bold, Freya. Ha ha, I'd never dare say that!" Elincia said.
Goldrich interjected, "Well, I suppose she has earned the privilege, being a woman who's shared a bed with him..."
Freya snapped. "Goldrich, if I ever come to your place again, it will be the last day you draw breath!"
"Khi khi khi... Why are you lovely young ladies always so cruel to a poor old man like me?"
Elincia had originally been next in line, but she had assured Broken there was no need to rush. After all, he would soon be departing on an expedition with Princess Alora and had more pressing matters to attend to.
Toberry said that he didn't need a new item crafted. "Your time is far too valuable to waste on me."
Melliandra had only requested Broken's help with crafting her weapon on the condition that he had acquired the Gunsmith Class.
As for Maylock, he hadn't returned to the game, sparking concern and questions from everyone. His absence left a noticeable void, and it was clear how much the guild missed him. "Did I miss anyone? For the first wave of crafting?" Broken asked.
No one voiced any objections. He had made it clear that everyone would get their turn eventually, ensuring that no one felt overlooked or excluded. His careful planning left little room for complaints.
"Well, I suppose it's time, then," he concluded, ready to move forward.
Broken was about to dive back into the challenge of the Tower of Trials. He'd been attempting
it daily for a while now, but no matter how hard he tried, he hadn't managed to hit an S score. Still, he was confident-this time, he believed he could finally succeed.Nôv(el)B\\jnn
On top of that, he was finally carving out time to study and prepare everything he needed for his Golem Class, something he had put off for far too long.
Oh damn, finally?!
Has he been so busy that he's only now addressing this Unique-grade class? Seriously?!
And if that wasn't enough, he also had to travel to the capital of the Dissidia Kingdom to meet Princess Alora and begin the journey they'd planned weeks ago.
Their destination? The village of the Forest Elves.
But his schedule didn't stop there. Later that same day, he would also need to join Freya and Ronald on an overseas trip. Even with all this piling up, his face brightened with a soft smile. "I'm so excited to keep myself busy," he said with a laugh before logging out of the game.
