Chapter 550: 550: Turbulence Begins on the Sandbar
Chapter 550: Chapter 550: Turbulence Begins on the Sandbar
To get to the sandbar, one must take a boat to a certain spot, then board a smaller boat to land on the sandbar, or take an airship directly to a small Dark Camp located on the sandbar.
The people of Starfire chose to take a boat and then a smaller boat directly to the beach.
Using a Flying Mount is not only expensive, but also because the flight path is uncontrollable. To ride a Flying Mount or an airship, you have to go to that camp.
The Dark Camp on the sandbar is huddled in a small valley in the south of the sandbar, while Li Yao’s ideal place for a garrison is in the north. Even for Li Yao, trying to walk back around the areas filled with high-level monsters after going through the camp would be impossible, let alone for a regular player.
Concerned about the danger of docking the small boats, more than a dozen boats had to capsize before nearly three thousand players managed to land on a dilapidated little beach.
The landing site was also chosen very carefully, since most of the coastline was, after all, not that safe. There were simply too many naga and murlocs living there, and searching for a secure spot along the coastline had already consumed too much time.
“I anticipated some troubles, but this is beyond expectation,” Li Yao murmured, eyes gleaming with frosty determination.
“What’s the problem?” Li Jie asked, sounding worried.
Li Yao gave a smirk. “It appears other guilds already know we’re moving toward the sandbar.”
Hearing this, the faces of the veterans present turned grim. One of them, named Angel, asked, “Have those bastards from other guilds already shown up at the sandbar?”
Li Yao nodded. “Yes, my Firehawk recon has already spotted a good number of players. This place is too remote, and the transit too inconvenient. No one would come here to level up unless utterly necessary.”
Everyone agreed with Li Yao’s point. With plenty of places to level up at level 20, there was really no need to come to this barren, godforsaken place.
The sandbar was just too isolated, the only supply station was incredibly far away, and various high-level monster gathering areas were scattered across the map.
It was one of the most unpopular maps among the players. With so many people suddenly appearing, no one would believe they weren’t targeting Starfire.
“Who are these bastards? Which trash guild do they belong to?” Angel inquired.
Li Yao shook his head, saying, “The guild insignias of these people are all very unfamiliar. I’ve never seen them before.”
Unparalleled murmured, “I didn’t expect them to move this fast. It’s clear they don’t want us to peacefully establish our guild station. They’ve even established theirs in advance and used unfamiliar players, so we don’t even know who is targeting us.”
Everyone looked rather displeased by the tricky situation, being ambushed by an unknown enemy.
After all, the allure Starfire held made many envious, and there were bound to be many wanting to take Starfire down. Figuring out whose twisted idea it was to pull such a disgusting trick was simply impossible.
This problem was quite a pickle. While Starfire wanted to establish a guild station, the enemies’ aim was clearly to sabotage Starfire’s plans, or at the very least, to create obstacles.
After all, for the enemy guild, whatever they lose would cost them little as their guild was only an empty shell. However, for Starfire, there would be no advantages to a confrontation with them, but it was also a situation they couldn’t avoid.
“Looks like these guys have become crafty. Damn it, they better hope I never find out who’s behind this.” The frustration was evident in the Knight’s voice.
Running into this kind of trouble right after landing on the beach wasn’t pleasant at all.
What’s more concerning was they still didn’t know how many people the other side had.
“Boss, should I take the assassins and get rid of them?” Shadow Dance asked, gripping his dagger tightly.
Li Yao shook his head. “No need for now. Killing them isn’t the priority. These people are all level twenty, so they’ll likely continue to pester us. Right now, our enemies want us to panic, but we’ll do the exact opposite. We’ll press on. If anyone tries to cause trouble, we’ll deal with them then. Our goal is to establish a guild station, not to participate in their games, otherwise, we’ll be doing exactly what the originators of this want.”
“That’s right, our primary task for now is to establish a small dock in this area and get the supplies shipped over,” Li Jie agreed.
The members of Starfire were fuming, but faced with this kind of situation, there weren’t any better solutions, they could only pretend these people didn’t exist.
Those guilds also sent out scouts, and half a day later, someone had already discovered Starfire’s foothold.
Starfire’s supplies had already arrived at the sandbar, and they began to deal with the surrounding monsters.
The area Li Yao had chosen to settle in was a gathering place of level 18-19 crocodiles. Starfire cleared a piece of land and planted their guild flag there. With this done, monsters would no longer respawn in this place.
Meanwhile, those disgusting guilds didn’t interfere with Starfire. As Starfire was clearing the monsters, they were doing the same, planting their guild flags thereafter.
“These scoundrels, they actually want to steal our guild station,” Angel grumbled, visibly furious. “Damn them.”
However, Li Yao shook his head. “No, it’s not the right time yet.”
“What the hell are you thinking? Those bastards have already bullied their way to our doorstep. If this leads to conflict when trying to establish our station, the Dark Alliance will undoubtedly let the two guilds collide to determine a winner or loser. Under these circumstances, when can we finally establish our station?” Though Angel was usually playful and jovial, she had a fiery, belligerent temperament and could not tolerate any oppressing forces.
Li Yao chuckled, “Think about it carefully, them clearing the monsters doesn’t put us at a disadvantage.”
“You… You’re really getting on my nerves.” Angel vented her frustration on the unfortunate crocodiles.
Unparalleled chuckled, “You need to calm down. Since you’re familiar with the rules, you should know that conflict will only arise when both sides have placed 100 guild battle flags.”
“So what?” Angel still didn’t get it.
Unparalleled continued, “Considering the crappy equipment those trash guilds possess, do you think their pace of clearing the monsters and planting flags can outpace ours? As long as we get our 100 guild battle flags up first, we can then sweep over them in one fell swoop. Once they’re defeated, their flags will naturally disappear and then we can…”
Angel’s eyes lit up, “You mean, we plant our flags once they’re gone?”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
“Obviously,” Fruity the Knight coldly stated. “They’re providing free labor, saving us plenty of time. Why not take advantage of this?”
“But why don’t they attack us? Wouldn’t that be simpler and more convenient?” Tong Tong asked, puzzled.
