Reincarnation of the Strongest Healer

Chapter 290 Cry of Misery

Two blinking lights emitted from the Vanguard Hotel's lobby, and emerged were Xu Feng and Carmen.

Now that it had been a day already since they were gone, the NPCs seemingly lost interest in trying to find the mystery owner of the hotel.

Instead, they were all busy with their studies and practicing for the upcoming competition.

As if they had all the time in the world to find the owner to give them a thorough bashing.

Therefore, Xu Feng no longer bothered to disguise himself and act covertly.

"What a pity that the income is slowly dwindling." Xu Feng sighed softly as he watched the somewhat desolate lobby. Previously, when he left the hotel, the lobby was bustling with activities, but he knew fairly well that it was just a once-in-a-blue-moon moment.

The main problem still existed— or at least that was what the City Hall and Adventure Association believed to be.

Now that he obtained a level one Authority of the Arcane Vein, changing the city's environment became extremely easy. All he needed to do was reveal the matter.

While he was thinking of monopolizing the city, Tracy, who had been notified of his arrival, rushed straight to him.

"It's good to see you've returned at long last," Tracy said with a relieved smile, almost as if she had been completely anxious to not see him for a while.

"Yeah, I was occupied with something," Xu Feng gave a slight nod and asked, "Anyway, what was the emergency warning about?"

Now that he knew there was still a day left till the teleportation portal opened, he found it skeptical that she would be rushing him to return.

"Ah yes, recently, our city received an influx of new people. They were quite unbridled and were causing a mess, with some even wanting to challenge the guards defending the teleportation platform." Tracy relayed the event.

"Who would do something like that?" Before Xu Feng could even respond, Carmen intervened, finding it baffling.

One thing she knew about the NPCs was that they weren't an unruly bunch.

They might act differently outside a town or city, but they were definitely law-abiding when inside the town or city.

After all, their roots were within the Divine World, and violating a law would spell disastrous to them.

Meanwhile, Xu Feng had a different perspective on the situation. With a rather calm smile, he asked, "Are those new people wearing quite shabby equipment and think they are the experts?"

"Yes, that's exactly how they were." Tracy's eyes widened in surprise, seemingly shocked that he was able to identify them right away. "Have you met them before returning?"

"No, but I think I understand the gist of the problem now." Xu Feng chuckled softly.

Why wouldn't he know who was causing the mess?

He was the instigator and schemer of the incident to be precise.

Confused, Carmen knitted her brows before recalling an event.

'Could it be that time…' She gasped, hurriedly covered her mouth, and gazed at Xu Feng with a funny look.

Xu Feng simply gave her a small wink when he detected her gaze.

Without any words needed, Carmen instantly connected the dots.

The people who had been trying to track him down, finally arrived at the city.

And considering their conduct, it was indeed not surprising to see them acting unruly the moment they arrived.

However, Carmen still failed to understand the real reason why these players were making a ruckus.

"If it's players, then why would they want to ruin their reputation like that?" She mumbled softly, clearly confused by their actions.

Even if their goal was to hunt Xu Feng down, it wouldn't cause them to disregard the city's law, going as far as trying to challenge the guard which would indirectly lead to their imprisonment in the jail cell.

Seeing her confusion, Xu Feng had a sly smile on his face. "Why don't you open the game forum to check on the latest news?"

Upon the suggestion, Carmen wasted no time opening her game forum. As she promptly browsed through the numerous posts, Xu Feng went ahead to converse with Tracy, leaving her alone.

Sometime later, Carmen finally realized why the players were creating a ruckus.

Within the posts, there were all kinds of cursing and flaming.

-Star Falls City was a trap!

-We've been fooled by both Lin Feng and the Reaver Guild!

Stay tuned with empire

-It's all a scheme to trap regular players like us to hinder our development!

'Star Falls City is a trap?' Carmen raised an eyebrow.

She was amused by their crazy rambling, but as she read more, she found the matter more hilarious.

-Star Falls City was nothing but a barren and desolate city, with next to zero prosperity available. Resources are scarce as well, and there were legit crappy missions available in the Adventure Association.

Within that particular forum post, there were 999+ replies, with the most liked one being that teleportation was restricted.

They are not allowed to teleport to another city to get away. In other words, they were all stuck at Star Falls City with zero resources for them to improve on.

For the dumber or ignorant players, some even went as far as saying teleporting to Star Falls City was volunteering to be put in jail.

"So they can't develop and at this stage of the Divine World, this was equivalent to a death sentence." A grin was seen flashing on Carmen's face as she felt zero pity for these complaining players.

She was positive that the complaining players were the ones who tried to hunt her Guild Leader down. In that case, it was only right for them to receive such a miserable fate.

"No wonder why they dared to challenge the guards. Staying outside and being imprisoned by the NPCs had no difference, so they might as well risk it." Feeling gleeful, she promptly closed the forum post, no longer interested in their cry of misery.

At the same time, she became more amazed by Xu Feng's ruthless conduct.
