Chapter 365 364: EXP
Chapter 365 364: EXP
{What do you mean by the Underworld prisoners are important chess pieces?}
As Corey ran with Divine by his side, he could not help but ask when he heard Divine's words.
He had always felt like the Underworld had a much different role to play than being a prison and also a training ground for the chosen of several forces, and it seemed he was right.
{You know that the Underworld is also meant to train the chosens of several outside organizations right?}
Corey nodded, and Divine continued,
{Well, what if I tell you that the people in charge of the Underworld also plan on using us to gain the core of our world for themselves?}
Divine scoffed, and Corey was stunned.
{The Underworld is actually the main force that some very powerful forces in the Universe plan on using to obtain our world's core. In fact, this is not the only Underworld in our Universe.}
Divine glanced at Corey, and when he noticed the stunned expression Corey had, he was not surprised.
This information he was giving was something that was highly confidential, and was only known to an extremely few individuals. He had suffered in the past when he got this information.
{Wait, so the Underworld has been in our world for a century, which means that the people here are also inhabitants of New Earth? And not outsiders?}
Corey had always found the Underworld strange for a lot of reasons. The first was that there were a lot of powerful humans in the Underworld.
It has not been up to six months since the apocalypse happened, and Corey knew that having a lot of tier 3s, tier 4s, and above should not be possible.
At first, Corey attributed this to maybe the wishes that some people made, however, he knew that even with this, it still did not make sense.
Another thing that Corey found strange was the large number of Underworld prisoners. Unless the Underworld decided to kidnap so many people at once, then he didn't know how there were so many Underworld prisoners and also so many powerful beings.
However, after hearing that the Outsiders had been in New Earth for a hundred years, Corey eventually had a thought that maybe most of the Underworld prisoners were actually Outsiders.
If they were outsiders, then it would make more sense.
However, with Divine telling him that the people in charge of the Underworld actually planned on using the Underworld prisoners to acquire the core of New Earth, he could not help but become stunned and baffled.
For how long had the Underworld existed on their planet?
How come nobody ever knew of it, and there was not a single news of it?
Corey was absolutely shocked, awed, and also a little bit fearful of the beings who made such exquisite plans for such a long time.
Corey needed more information, and he needed more strength to destroy whatever plans these beings had established.
Luckily for him, he had one of the best and strangest sources of information beside him. And, he also had the blood of one of the strongest beings in the Universe beside him.
With these two, he felt he could make appropriate plans in the future. n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Meanwhile, Divine shook his head after hearing Corey's question, then he raised a finger.
{You're not entirely wrong. Most of the people here are Half New Earthlings.}
Corey frowned, {What do you mean?}
{I forgot to tell you this earlier.} Divine paused, {You know when I told you that the outsiders tried to circumvent the rules made by the Universal System?}
Corey nodded.
{Well, the Universal System also retaliated and the way it retaliated surprised the outsiders.}
A chuckle escaped Divine's lips as he could imagine how shocked and angered the outsiders would have become when they realized what the system did.
Divine continued, {The Universal System made it that those who had the bloodline of an outsider in them were not given the opportunity to make wishes.}
Corey's eyes widened slightly in surprise.
{So, if you see somebody without a talent in the Underworld and in the outside world, then it's most likely that the person has the bloodline of an outsider in them… or the person did not make a wish for whatever reasons they had.}
Corey's mind spun for a few seconds, then he spoke,
{So, let me this straight…}
Corey paused.
{... The Half New Earthlings are children of a New Earthling and an outsider. And because of the bloodline of an outsider in them, the system refuses to grant them wishes?}
Corey asked, and Divine nodded.
Corey frowned slightly, then he continued speaking,
{Why don't the outsiders choose to make a lot of New Earthlings slaves? I'm very sure they can capture countless of us with ease, increase our strength, and strip us of our free will to do our bidding?}
Corey stared at Divine as he ran. Despite him not focusing on the path ahead, his speed did not decrease in the slightest and his steps did not falter.
Divine glanced at him, then he replied,
{The person that obtains and absorbs the core of a Blessed Planet would be stripped of every mind manipulation, slave abilities, or anything that robs one of their free will.}
Corey widened his eyes in sheer surprise.
{That's completely unexpected. Does the Universal System favor Blessed Planets that much?}
Although Corey said this, his thought was on something entirely different.
'Is it the Supreme Ancestor that chose to do something like this? Is a Blessed Planet actually that important to the Supreme Ancestor? I need answers and knowledge.' Corey frowned deeply.
{Trust me, I was also surprised when I found out this information. The Universal System completely favors a Blessed Planet, and I don't know why.} Divine shrugged nonchalantly. {Although I'm completely sure, I have an inkling why the Universal System would remove anything that robs one of their free will.}
Corey glanced at Divine.
{It's most likely because the Universal System wants the person that finally obtained the core of a Blessed Planet after so much struggle to actually make a wish that they actually want. It most likely doesn't want the person to make a wish just because he or she is influenced by another person.}
Divine said, and Corey raised a brow.
{That's oddly thoughtful of the Universal System.} Corey replied with a tinge of mockery and suspicion in his tone.
Divine glanced at him, and he chuckled.
{I know it's suspicious. I was also suspicious of it when I heard about it. However, after experiencing some things, it's actually true. There are no strings attached, surprisingly.}
{The Universal System is actually extremely fair, just, and thoughtful in a lot of things.}
Corey glanced at Divine but did not say anything.
'If you knew about the Supreme Ancestor, I would believe you. However, you're also a frog in a well… just like me'
Corey looked up. He knew there were a lot of things that was going on around and was also beyond his control. He knew beings much much much stronger than him could possibly be using him as a chess piece.
Beings like the Supreme Ancestor.
Beings like the Paragon Ancestor.
Beings like the true owners of the Underworld.
And beings he had never seen or heard of before.
Although he felt like this, this was just an unfounded suspicion without any proof or whatsoever. He was not going to let such thoughts control his actions, and he would do his best to be careful and make the best choices he could make.
{Oh yeah.}
Divine suddenly exclaimed in his mind. Corey looked at him with a questioning expression.
{I forgot to tell you. The person who is able to claim and absorb the core of a Blessed Planet can also make any wish they want. Even if they have made a wish in the past.}
Corey felt his heart skip multiple beats.
{Any wish? Even though I've already made a wish?}
Corey asked, and Divine nodded with a light smile.
{Of course. It wouldn't be fair of the Universal System to only allow outsiders to make a wish if they obtained the core of a Blessed Planet. A denizen of the planet should also be given the opportunity to make another wish.}
Corey felt his heart skip multiple beats once more.
He could potentially make another wish if he somehow obtained and absorbed the core of New Earth?
He could potentially wish for his parents to be brought back to life?
He could potentially wish for his sister to be brought back to life in case what he found when he looked for her was her corpse?
He could…
Corey shook his head as the temptation of such an opportunity almost overwhelmed him. Although he pushed such thoughts to a Star of Consciousness, his heart and even main Consciousness still possessed remnants of such thoughts.
Minutes went by, and Corey ruminated over the conversation he had with Divine. It was a lot to think about, and he definitely could not take it lightly at all. He also made sure to use multiple consciousness stars to ruminate over their previous words.
However, while Corey was suddenly ruminating over their previous conversation, his Consciousness Stars suddenly brought up a question which he could not find any potential answer to it, so he asked Divine.
{Divine.}
He called out, and Divine looked at him.
{From our previous conversation, the Underworld was mainly made for the Half New Earthlings so that they can take the core of New Earth for the outsiders right?}
Divine nodded, and Corey frowned.
{Then what of us who are complete New Earthlings? What do they plan on doing to us?}
Divine smiled darkly, and he chuckled. Corey suddenly had a bad feeling.
{Isn't it obvious. We're going to be EXP for the Half New-Earthlings when our time is up."
