Chapter 1593: The Last Three Participants(4)

It was a war that would span over years, if not decades, due to the number that is fighting on both sides. At the same time, it was known to every soldier that they would be resurrected after the end of the war.

It was cold for the leader to say such things, but it was necessary. Such actions might cause serious trouble to their sides in some situations that they wouldn't want to face.

"You will have adequate time for revenge, so keep your eyes on macro here. It isn't a war for a planet, but we are fighting for our existence and Master Tira."

The leader further added, seeing the ugly expression on the man's face. He didn't say anything else and left.

Since it was the rest time, the two sides needed to return to the structure and rest since the battle would only get more tragic and tiresome with time.

"Report the battle situation!"

Renxi asked his subordinates. He was the second student of Tira and the strongest after her in the world.

He was responsible for the battle with Tira, so he had to consider the daily situation to make changes depending on the circumstances.

"Master Renxi, thirty groups of soldiers joined the battlefield, with each group having ten sub-groups.

The enemy had similar numbers, and we are excited to tell you that our casualty ratio is lower than the enemy. For three soldiers, the enemy lost; we have only lost two.

As we had expected, the highest number of losses had come from sixth-ranked warriors…"

The comprehensive battle situation was shown to Renxi. During all that, he maintained a cold expression. In the end, he asked his subordinates to go through the same strategies as the battle was going the way they had expected.

He then left the room, and not far from that, Shenfu was waiting for him.

Renxi was the strongest but was still given the responsibility of the war with Mariam, with whom their world had an advantage because Shenfu was too brilliant. Even Renxi took Shenfu's help from time to time if he ever had any doubts.

"Senior brother, I think we would need some changes in our strategies."

Renxi stated the opposite of what he ordered his subordinates.

Even though first-ranked warriors were outrageously stronger than second-ranked warriors, that didn't mean the latter was weaker.

Every second-ranked warrior had a sensing range of the battlefield, so whatever happened today was in their eyes.

He wasn't happy with the two-on-three casualty rate when the population difference between both sides was higher than that.

The first echelon from Tira's world was more powerful than Mariam's world, but due to the high difference in numbers between the two sides, the combined power was the same.

If the lower echelon of Mariam's world outlasted Tira's world, the battle would be lost, which Renxi didn't want to see.

His master hadn't told him what was at stake, but the seriousness with which Tira has been treating the war, they didn't dare to lose. It wasn't due to fear, but they wanted to prove to their master that she didn't choose wrong when they were given the responsibility.

Four hours passed in no time, and the new day of the war began.

The battle raged for hours, and soon it was rest time. The situation kept repeating until the third year. And then, the first breach into the rest time happened.

The fourth-ranked leader, who saw his subordinates getting massacred while dealing with the explosions of his subordinates, saw his most hated enemy for the second time.

He had been living in hatred since that time, so even the break of resting time didn't stop him, and he pushed into the enemy camp.

That rule was established by Tira and Mariam, the rulers of their respective worlds, so breaking that rule was akin to ridiculing the two.

Soldiers from both sides didn't like that, resulting in his execution, which was ordered by Renxi. Unfortunately, it set cracks in that rule since even though the man was executed, he still succeeded in killing his enemy, so in a sense, it was life for a life.

The cracks didn't heal with time, but they began to get wider, as in the span of a year, the rule was broken three times after the first one.

Even though all three resulted in executions, the precedent had been set, resulting in Tira and Mariam to set their foot down.

The resting time was taken back, and the battles began to be fought continuously. Those soldiers who wanted to rest would just return to their camps after the set amount of time as ordered by their leaders.

Time kept flowing, and thirty-seven years passed in a flash.

What was a several trillion-strong army had now turned into a few million, and the weaker warriors had almost become extinct from both sides.

Tira and Mariam still hadn't personally joined the war, but the time was approaching as third-ranked warriors had begun to die, forcing second-ranked warriors to step into the battlefield as well.

The truly strong second-ranked warriors like Shenfu and Renxi were still away from the battlefield, but the way the war was going, they would soon have to step into it.

Before the war began, Renxi had confidently told Tira that they had complete confidence in victory against Mariam, but these years had shaken that confidence somewhat.

What caused the battle to turn around like that was a new spell developed by Frinsic, a student of Mariam. It was a taboo spell.

Taboo spells were spells that required the sacrifice of innocents, and it was a cruel sacrifice.

Since the people dying on the battlefield would be reborn after it, Frinsic created the spell, keeping that in mind, but what was out of his control was its side effect. Whoever activated the spell would be ridden with bad luck as that kind of evil sacrifice was against the nature of things.

The taboo spell allowed the wizards to kill a large number of cultivators, which they wouldn't have been able to do due to the strong personal power of cultivators.

But since the user of the spell also got covered with bad luck, it affected the wizards as well. Whoever used the spell was immediately killed, as that kind of bad luck was too detrimental in war.

Time flew by, and two more years passed.

Renxi finally stepped foot on the battlefield, and his enemy was none other than Frinsic, the strongest wizard after Mariam.

The second strongest of the two worlds were fighting against each other for the first time, and the entire battlefield stopped, only focusing on that fight.

With Tira and Mariam not intervening in the war, the battle between the two had too much at stake.

"Even if that kind of sacrifice was willing, you shouldn't have done that," Renxi scoffed as he looked down on Frinsic.

Frinsic simply smiled in response to that and followed Renxi into the air. Even their battle would be too destructive for other third-ranked and fourth-ranked warriors on the ground, so the sky was their battlefield.

The warriors of that level found flying as instinctive as walking, so fighting in the sky was no different than battling on the ground.

BOOM!

Just the aura released by the two sides caused a loud explosion, and the space began to be torn. Fortunately, the space wasn't that weak, so it healed immediately but then got torn apart once again as the two clashed.

Renxi was a physical cultivator, and Frinsic was a warlock, so both sides had strong bodies and liked to battle that way only.

Their punches clashed with each other, tearing the space apart, and clouds disappeared.

At some point, Tira and Mariam also appeared on the battlefield. They immediately set a barrier on their subordinates on the ground so they wouldn't die just from the aura of Renxi and Frinsic's attacks.

Since it wasn't their battle, they didn't need to worry about spending energy on the barrier that they could have used for fighting.

***

Frinsic's body started to change as he began transforming into his warlock form. In no time, he had grown ten times what he originally was, and pitch-black scales covered his body.

His vertical eyes stared at Renxi like a viper, whereas the air became poisonous just with his presence. Even the elements in the area started to rot and soon disappeared.

Renxi didn't dare to inhale the poisonous air and immediately covered himself with an energy shield.

Chhiss! Chhiss! Chhiss!

A burning sound rang in the area as even the energy shield started to burn, and poisonous smoke rose from it.

Renxi was strong, so the shield was replenished immediately. He couldn't let the situation continue like that, so he rushed forward.

Frinsic had completed his transformation at that moment. He had now turned into a snake-like creature with numerous tiny, sharp conical horns spread across its body.
