The Life of Lust Demon

Chapter 79 A Scoundrel's Justice

Sofia considered Anos's words for a moment, then asked, "Are you still planning to participate in the Beast Domain Trial at the Sky Martial Court's outer region?"

Anos nodded without hesitation. "Of course. Why wouldn't I?"

Sofia studied him, her expression softening slightly. "I see… Are you absolutely sure you're not hurt?"

Anos chuckled, his confidence unwavering. "Do I look stupid to you? If I were injured, would I be standing here right now? And if I were hurt, don't you think I'd use the opportunity to guilt you into compensating me?"

A genuine laugh escaped Sofia's lips, her earlier tension melting away. "That does sound like something you'd do." She smirked. "Alright, then. Go on. Focus on your training. As a martial artist, you can't afford to slack off."

"Of course, my dear Sofia," Anos teased, flashing a cheeky grin as he turned to leave. "Don't miss me too much."

Sofia rolled her eyes, a small smile tugging at her lips despite herself. As the door closed behind him, she rested her chin on her hand, her gaze drifting thoughtfully toward the window. Her mind churned as she considered how to tackle the challenges ahead, his lingering presence leaving her both amused and slightly flustered.

Anos hummed a tune as he strolled down the hallway toward his class. As he approached, the faint sound of crying reached his ears, growing louder with each step. Frowning, he paused just outside the door.

Crying? In class? That's not something you hear every day.

Curiosity piqued, Anos pushed the door open and stepped inside. The classroom was mostly empty—most of the students were likely off training in the virtual combat simulations or engrossed in lessons elsewhere. His sharp gaze quickly zeroed in on the source of the sobbing. It was Mia, her face buried in Sasha's chest as she trembled with grief.

Mia? Crying? That girl could handle almost anything without breaking. What the hell happened?

Sasha looked up briefly as Anos entered, her expression a mix of concern and helplessness. She quickly averted her gaze, returning to stroking Mia's hair and murmuring soft reassurances.

Anos walked over, his presence commanding as he settled into a chair opposite them. He leaned forward, his voice casual but tinged with curiosity. "Alright, what's going on here? What's got her so upset?"

Mia peeked at him from the safety of Sasha's embrace, her tear-streaked face only making her look more vulnerable. Her lip quivered as fresh tears welled up, and she buried herself back into Sasha's arms, sobbing even harder.

Anos arched an eyebrow, momentarily taken aback. This wasn't like her. Despite often teasing Mia and Sasha for fun, he had a soft spot for them. Beneath the surface, they were genuinely good people—kind, strong-willed, and honest. He couldn't stand seeing them like this.

"Hey, I'm serious. What's wrong?" His tone softened slightly, though his impatience seeped through.

Sasha's beautiful face was shadowed with worry and barely concealed anger. She cast a sharp glance at Anos before speaking, "Mia was picked on."

Anos raised a brow, leaning back in his chair as if the revelation amused him. "Now that's something new." Without missing a beat, he extended a hand. His loyal lackeys, always quick to read his mood, scrambled to pour him a glass of water.

He took a slow sip, looking at Sasha and Mia with mock curiosity. "You two come from wealthy families, don't you? Who in their right mind would dare mess with you?"

Mia, her head still buried against Sasha's shoulder, jerked up and glared at him, her teary eyes blazing. "Are you gloating, Anos?!" she snapped, her voice catching between sobs.

Anos smirked, his tone dripping with mock innocence. "Me? Gloat? Of course not." Then, after a beat, he added with a teasing edge, "But you know, Mia, if we're pointing out flaws here—your chest is, uh, on the modest side, your temper's like a storm in a teacup, your height's... compact, and your butt—"

"Wahhhh!" Mia's cry erupted, louder than before, as fresh tears spilled down her cheeks. She turned back to Sasha, sobbing into her friend's arms, utterly inconsolable.

This kind of strong and raw emotion gave Anos an odd sense of satisfaction, as if the universe itself was rewarding him for his role as the unapologetic troublemaker. He chuckled to himself. This Mia girl was bawling her eyes out, and he was still cracking jokes. Maybe he really was destined to walk the path of a scoundrel.

"Anos, Mia is already so upset, and you're still acting like this!" Sasha glared at him, clearly displeased.

Anos shrugged, his expression softening just slightly. "I'm not finished. Listen—only I get to mess with you two. Nobody else has that privilege. Now, tell me who had the guts to cross you."

Mia sniffled, wiping her eyes before looking up at him.

"You've soaked Sasha's shirt with all your crying," Anos teased with a grin, pointing at the wet patches on her chest.

Mia pouted but looked at him with a shred of hope. "You'd really help me get back at them?"

"Of course! Like I said, you're mine to bully. Now stop crying."

Mia hesitated before finally wiping her tears away. Sasha looked between the two, exasperated. She'd been consoling Mia for ages, and somehow, a few words from Anos worked better than all her efforts.

Handing Mia a tissue, Anos turned to Sasha. "Alright, what happened?"

Sasha sighed. "After lunch, we were walking outside when someone from the advanced class stopped us and tried to confess to Mia."

Anos raised an eyebrow. "You're kidding. What kind of monstrosity scared her to tears like this?"

Mia, still sniffling, chimed in angrily, "He was hideous! Like, horrifyingly ugly!"

Sasha continued, "Mia rejected him, but he kept pushing. When she refused again, he got angry and started hurling insults at her."

Anos leaned back, crossing his arms. "That's all it took to make her cry?"

Sasha nodded, giving him a look.

This girl's tolerance might be low, but Anos could understand why!

"You're from a wealthy family. Why would he dare to mess with you?" Anos asked, his tone genuinely curious.

Sasha sighed, frustration evident in her voice. "His name is Samson Baker, from the Baker family. They're one of the strongest families in Flower City. Mia's Grandsley family can't really compare to their influence, so he doesn't care."

"Samson Baker…" Anos's brow furrowed slightly. Samson and Owen Baker—was there some kind of connection between the two?

Anos smirked inwardly, thinking, Well, well, seems like the mission just delivered itself to me. How convenient.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

"Don't we have you?" he asked Sasha, his tone teasing yet serious. "The Necron family has plenty of clout, doesn't it?"

Sasha's voice softened as she responded, "But… he didn't target me. It's Mia he went after. Even if I stepped in, he wouldn't take it seriously. The Bakers think they can do whatever they want."

Her voice carried a note of guilt, as though she felt personally responsible for not being able to protect Mia, despite her family's strength.

Anos leaned back, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest. "So that's how it is. Interesting."

"Where is he now? I'll deal with him for you," Anos said firmly, his gaze sharpening.

Mia's face lit up with a mix of hope and relief as she sniffled, wiping her tears. "He's back in his class—the Fifth Class of the Advanced Division!"

Sasha, however, remained cautious. Her brows furrowed as she looked at Anos. "Hold on a second. We need to think this through. Samson Baker is in the Spirit Core Realm, and his family… they aren't ones to mess with lightly."

Mia hesitated as well, her anger starting to waver. As much as she wanted justice, the thought of Anos putting himself at risk because of her made her uneasy. "Maybe… maybe we should just forget about it," she said softly, lowering her gaze.

Anos chuckled, a confident glint in his eyes. "Didn't I tell you? Only I get to tease you. Nobody else. Come on, take me to him!"

A blush crept across Mia's face, and she instinctively hugged herself, feeling a mix of shyness and admiration.
