Chapter 309: Chapter 198 Upgraded (Part 1)_1
As an interstellar civilization with the presence of gods, the influence of the gods is very terrifying.
Previously, with sects acting as an intermediary, the influence of the gods on the secular world was buffered, and the will of the gods was translated once by the sects, greatly reducing its impact on the world.
But now, the voice of the gods resonates directly in the ears of the believers, and the will of the gods directly assaults their consciousness, turning them instantly into speculators who only purchase special items to resell at high prices.
An enormous number of speculative companies were established overnight, and a futures market for related special goods was set up. Each future, once listed, would be snatched up quickly, and its price would surge in an instant.
And after participating once, some believers discovered that this process of making money was too fast.
Do nothing, just resell the items for a 20% profit; a 4 million buy-in could be flipped for 4.8 million without even touching the merchandise.
Generally, fields that make money quickly are covered by criminal law, yet here was a way to make money even faster that wasn’t covered by criminal law.
The previous record transaction price of 300 million faith was already astronomical, but as more people joined in, this record was broken daily. Some utterly useless special items were even speculated to billions, with a continuing upward trend evident.
The wealthy were crazily amassing fortunes with this scheme, and the common people were no exception.
The more astute began pooling funds. By scrimping and saving for a week, the common folk could accumulate a hundred faith, which could be used as a share to pool funds. Forty thousand commoners could then attempt to queue up to buy a special item, which could then be flipped for two hundred or even five hundred faith.
But what to do when there were more pools of funds than special items available?n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
The more intelligent ones emerged.
They devised a pre-order scheme.
Although there were no goods available, we are pre-emptively commandeering future supplies to trade, and when the items finally arrive, we will deliver them.
Even if it requires waiting for a few years, we have already made arrangements with the Heavenly Lord’s Angel Envoy, so there won’t be a failure to deliver.
This basic gameplay was only one of many. As the trading market continuously expanded, various bizarre trading schemes began to appear. The original pre-order scheme no longer satisfied everyone’s appetite.
After all, no matter how many pre-orders there were, the laboratory’s production capacity was just so high, managing a hundred per day at full effort. However, the demand across the entire Heavenly Tao network had already reached millions.
Players didn’t notice this issue at first, until Pingping on Car Star was surprised to find that the recent food prices had soared.
Car Star was an agricultural planet, and there was a Food Lord as a real-world interferer, so their demand for imports was low, spending most of the time exporting food to the warriors fighting against the Shadows.
However, due to a temporarily stable front line, when Pingping wanted to sell some food, she discovered to her surprise that food prices had quintupled.
Upon checking the price situation in other areas through the Heavenly Tao network, Pingping found that prices in most regions had started to skyrocket, yet far from any civil unrest, people were spending generously.
Taking a spaceship to the largest commercial planet nearby, Pingping found the place to be peculiarly strange.
As a port city, there were usually a large number of merchant ships docked, and the endless stream of merchants from various places made it look very lively.
But now, the harbor had become eerily quiet, seemingly on the verge of recession.
Unlike the quiet harbor, however, the residents seemed especially happy.
Their faces beamed with joy, each little creature watching various data on their personal terminals and occasionally whooping with delight as the numbers rose.
Shops closed, usually out of business, and in the only open bar, the Octopus bartender cleaned glasses out of boredom, but kept his eyes glued to the screen, watching the data.
When Pingping rode the Food Lord and Maine Coon into the place, the bartender just glanced at the two cats and a mouse and said, “Welcome, would ice water suffice?”
“Why only ice water?” The Food Lord asked in surprise, “Didn’t you have over three hundred kinds of cocktails and various delicacies last time I was here?”
“Out of stock. By the way, there’s some food left in the fridge, can you cook for yourself? If you make one for me as well, I won’t charge you. It’s been more than ten days since I last ate.”
“How did you survive?” Pingping asked curiously.
“How many legs do you see I have?”
Upon discovering that the Octopus bartender only had two legs, Pingping understood how he had managed to survive.
There wasn’t much material in the fridge, but it was enough to whip up meals for several people.
Maine Coon didn’t wait around, directly opening the fridge and quickly preparing a large amount of food for her companions.
Enticed by the savory smell of food, the Octopus bartender finally shifted his attention from the screen to the food and started eating heartily.
After a few bites, his legs began to sprout, though only tender shoots.
Having eaten his fill, the Octopus bartender took a break from monitoring the data, then turned to observe the visitors.
After scrutinizing them for a while, he confidently stated, “You guys came from an agricultural planet, didn’t you?”
“Yes, how did you know?” Pingping asked curiously.
“Now, only people from agricultural planets are so composed. We’ve been obsessed with stock trading recently; my assets have tripled. It’s just a pity that I didn’t mortgage my bar at the start, I would have earned even more.”
