Chapter 688 The Result
"Nooooooooo!"
Niylah was so terrified by the thought of Damien winning the race and then as a result having to lose her long black hair because of some stupid words by Zach that she was triggered.
She jumped out of her horse as a human, but landed as a big black wolf.
"Niylah!" Ramon shouted at his sister but it was already too late to stop her.
Some of the horses got terrified after suddenly seeing a big predatory creature amidst them. They whinnied and raised their front hooves in resistance and shock.
Niylah immediately picked up the pace and ran ahead of her brother, then Kenneth and Zach, and then she also won Ariel.
"Whoa… hohohoho…" Zach was thrilled to see Nylah taking the race to the next level. He pumped his fist in the air again and shouted, "Now we're taking this seriously! Woo-hoo!"
Damien turned around to see what all the ruckus was about.
"Whoa!" His heart also skipped a beat upon seeing that giant creature leaping right above him and then running forward.
Damien was aware by now that Niylah was a werewolf. However, he had not seen her wolf form to recognize that it was her.
And he also hadn't seen any werewolf in a long time, so he definitely wasn't expecting to see one in the middle of the race. So when he saw her, he cautiously asked, "What the hell is that thing?"
Ariel quickly replied, fearing that Damien would do something reflexively, "That's Niylah. Leave her be."
"Niylah?" Damien raised his brows and turned his head ahead. He was surprised to see that black beast in front of him. What surprised him even more was that it seemed as if she was wearing some kind of cloth that matched her black fur.
"Interesting…" Damien mumbled to himself as he watched Niylah running at a speed that was now undetectable by normal human eyes. "I missed a lot of things in the past 9 years…"
Niylah reached the red barn within a minute. And then she turned around to see that the others were right where she had left them. It felt like they were barely moving.
"I won!" she thought to herself and then howled to celebrate.
She reverted back to her human form before the others reached where she was because she didn't want them to see her weirdly breaking and reforming her bones.
Though she had lost the gown that she was wearing when she had transformed, she was wearing the enchanted cloth that the witches had prepared for her. It looked like a sleeveless slip gown. And since it was enchanted to mimic her body's outline, that black dress wrapped her body as if it was her second skin.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Ah! That was fun." She was a little breathless after running at the top of her speed. However, she felt that she had finally freshened up after their 5 days long journey.
After about 10-12 minutes, those who were at the forefront of the race gathered around her.
Damien was the first one to arrive there after Niylah. Then he was joined by Ariel and the others respectively.
Damien stood in front of Niylah and then praised her, "That was pretty impressive. You can run pretty fast in your werewolf form."
"Thanks," Niylah smiled at Damien and then began smoothing out her soft curls which were flying haywire around her head.
"What the hell was that, Ny?" Ramon jumped down his horse and then stormed towards his sister.
Niylah furrowed her brows and replied to her brother in a stern voice, "Why are you getting angry? That was called winning the race. Shouldn't you be thankful that your hair will be intact on your head?"
Damien scoffed in confusion because according to him, he was clearly the winner of the race. And he asked, "I like your enthusiasm, Niylah. But I was the one who won. You–"
He was interrupted when Ramon stood in front of him and asked, "Give me your robe."
Damien didn't know why Ramon was demanding his robe all of a sudden, but he took off his robe anyway while still arguing with Niylah, "You broke the rule of the race. You cannot transform into your werewolf form and say that you won. That's clearly cheating."
He handed over the robe to Ramon and then turned to ask the others, "Am I not right? I am the one who won the horse race."
Ramon went and covered his sister with that robe which was very large for her. He then looked at his sister and reprimanded her, "We have to get a new set of clothes and shoes for you now. Why were you so reckless?"
However, Niylah was too focused on arguing with Damien. She folded her arms and said, "Well, to be fair, Zach just said 'let's race'. He didn't specify how we were supposed to race. So this is valid."
And Ariel, Zach, and Kenneth immediately agreed to her fearing that they would lose their hair if they sided with Damien.
Zach clapped his hands and declared, "Yes, she is absolutely right. Niylah is the winner."
"Woo-hoo! Congratulations Ny!" Ariel also clapped alongside Zach and cheered Niylah.
Zach nervously scratched his head because he suddenly felt as if he was getting a death glare from Damien. He slowly stood behind Ariel and said, "She is right. I just said race. I didn't say horse race."
Damien narrowed his eyes at everyone for ganging up on him even when he was the winner. And he said in frustration, "By that logic, I could have simply teleported here. I would have won before this damn race even started."
Zach instantly protested, "But that isn't racing if you don't race at all." He immediately hid behind Ariel when Damien glared at him again.
Ariel laughed and then shrugged. "He is not wrong."
Damien pouted and then mumbled in a displeased tone, "Then I could have ran! Faster than her."
"But you didn't." Zach teasingly showed her tongue to Damien.
Niylah softly giggled and then dusted off her shoulder as if she was showing off to Damien.
And Kenneth also said with finality, "Accept it, pretty boy. You lost. She won."
