Chapter 83 Acquire Golem Cores
For the time being, our goal has become acquiring golem cores.
If we can mass-produce golems, it would give us a huge advantage in terms of production. In normal gameplay, having too many golems might be troublesome. However, we have a secret weapon: "The Ideal Atelier."
With enough production facilities, there's no doubt we have an abundance of craftsmen.
Even low-level golem cores would make menial tasks much easier. Mid-level cores would greatly expand our flexibility, and if we can find a high-level core, we'd be unstoppable.
We plan to mainly use golems for production, but if necessary, we could also use them as a combat force. Leading an army of golems is entirely possible.
In fact, Atori's race, the "High Human," is a treasure trove of such skills.
This game, *Sugo*, has a feature called limited skills. For example, skills like "Create Dark," "Dark Aura," and "Darkness Berserk" are exclusive to dark spirits, while skills like "Kagura" and "Summoning" are exclusive to shrine maidens. Similarly, some skills are tied to specific races.
Among them, the "High Human" has many skills geared toward leading armies.
"Well, shall we conquer the dungeon?"
"Yes, my god... just the two of us..."
"Jack and the others are here too."
Surprisingly, I was working alongside one of my few friends, Rasetsu○, this time. We had agreed to clear a dungeon together.
Rasetsu○ doesn't interfere too much, and when we do talk, it's mostly about the game.
Teaming up occasionally isn't an issue.
For this dungeon exploration, although we're working together, we're each doing it solo in our own way. After all, solo players reign supreme.
We're now in the third field, "Agyoten City Yarumzam." It's known as a dungeon city, with a massive dungeon towering in the center.
It's a mid-sized dungeon with ten floors.
The city itself was lively, with wide streets that could accommodate carriages. The sides were filled with street stalls, emitting wild, unfamiliar food scents.
It seemed to be a city mostly inhabited by beastmen.
There were plenty of muscular adventurers with cat ears roaming around.
Being a dungeon city, it's not surprising that many of the inhabitants were fighters. Atori, being a High Human, would probably stand out here.
After fending off about five pickpockets, Atori finally arrived at the adventurer's guild.
It was a rough-looking guild.
A rowdy tavern where all sorts of roughnecks gathered... the moment Atori stepped inside, murderous glares were directed her way. But the little grim reaper paid them no mind.
She boldly took a seat at the counter and ordered milk.
But—
"We don't have a menu for kids."
The clerk, clearly looking down on her, was supposed to be a guild employee... but this place seemed to have a strong anti-High Human sentiment. Or perhaps it was more about territorial behavior, as the clerk was a wolf beastman.
Atori tilted her head.
"They had it at other guilds. Is this guild poor?"
"...You little brat, you wanna die?"
"How?"
Atori silently stared at the clerk.
Her overwhelming presence. The silent pressure coming from this small girl caused the clerk to turn pale in an instant. Atori, who could take down raid bosses solo, was not someone a non-combatant clerk could oppose. Trembling, the clerk began to shake when someone sat down beside Atori.
This beastman must not have realized, since Atori's intimidation was only directed at the clerk.
"What's this human brat doing here? Here for a job? Or are you seriously calling yourself an adventurer? You didn't come here because you're enamored with Yarumzam, did you?"
"I'm not. I came for work."
"Ah, that pisses me off. A weak human kid acting all tough... should I crush you?"
"Thank you, my god!"
Completely ignoring the new arrival, Atori happily sipped the drink I had given her. The wolf boy sitting next to her was visibly irritated.
He tried to snatch Atori's drink in his anger—only to be bound by Shiwo's tentacles.
Oh dear.
I really don't want to see a guy get tied up like this.
"What the hell is this? Let go of me! Are you a tamer or something? You think you're tough just because you're using someone else's strength!? Hey, you lot, kill this guy!"
"Aren't you relying on others yourself...?"
As I sighed in exasperation, the other adventurers stood up as well.
They each readied their weapons, all directed at Shiwo. It seemed like there was about to be a guild brawl. Atori's A-rank card might be making an appearance here.
As I was thinking that, a few of the adventurers suddenly collapsed.
The beastmen who weren't taken down were too shocked to move.
The one who appeared afterward was a one-armed old man... Jack Jack.
"What's the matter, Atori-dono? These fools aren't even worth talking to."
"What happened to your arm?"n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"I made a mistake. It's cursed, and no healing can fix it, hohoho."
"How about using the 'Regeneration' skill?"
"Even if I were to get it, that's something for the far future. This old body doesn't have much time left."
Stroking his long beard, Jack Jack had already sheathed his bloodstained rapier. Stepping over the fallen beastmen, Jack Jack sat down in the now-vacant seat beside Atori. After a small nod, he placed an order with the clerk.
"I'll have some alcohol. Something fruity would be nice."
"T-this can't... this can't be allowed..."
The clerk stammered, trembling.
"You think this kind of thing... is allowed...?"
"Two A-rank adventurers are speaking, what do you have to say? I know this city favors beastmen, and that it's working well for you. But if you're going to discriminate, do it outside the guild. The guild, by principle, is an organization."
"A-rank... this kid is!?"
"Still as low-level as ever, this guild. I'll be reporting this to the guild headquarters. The word of an A-rank adventurer holds weight."
"T-that's... that's abuse of authority!"
"You brought this upon yourselves."
"W-wait! Please wait!"
"I don't care... come on, Atori-dono."
Jack Jack stood up, giving Atori a sidelong glance.
"Let's dive into the dungeon already. Are you ready?"
"Yes."
"Good. Let's go. If you have any equipment or weapons that can lift curses, please share them. We'll discuss other items as we go."
"Got it."
Negotiations are always a hassle.
Well, if things don't work out, we can just break ties and distance ourselves. We made our way toward the dungeon.
▼
This was the Thousand-Changing Labyrinth, Ariirirau.
The first floor was a complex maze that changed every week. The dungeon's layout, monsters, items, and even traps were all random.
However, golems seemed to appear fairly often.
It's not a place for casual players, but the rewards are varied, and the drop rates are better than other dungeons.
This dungeon is a treasure hunter's dream.
We began our assault on the dungeon in cooperation with Rasetsu○'s team. We immediately split into two groups to search for the stairs leading upward.
The labyrinth was dimly lit.
We were equipped with lanterns, and we had summoned one weak vine dog for assistance.
Shiwo led the way ahead.
She had a new set of gear, including two small shields and one large shield strapped to her back. All of them were crafted by Seck.
Using her soundwave skill, Shiwo detected the presence of traps.
Taking a small stone from her pouch, she tossed it into the trap's path. Immediately, a bear trap appeared, crushing the stone to dust.
Shiwo can't understand the exact details of a trap, so it's good she has ways to test them.
To be honest, we've never fully cleared a dungeon before.
The catacombs weren't strictly a dungeon, and we've never seen the lowest floor of the Golden Tree Sea Dalesgana either.
Conquering a dungeon—it's every gamer's dream.
I want to reach the deepest floor this time.
Atori threw a small scythe, which pierced the skull of an approaching monster.
The monsters that appeared included zombies, goblins, orcs, high orcs, and a large bird I had never seen before.
"Let's appraise this bird, just in case."
Level: 13
Species: Cockatrice
Job: Sorcerer
Magic: Water Magic 15
Skills: Petrification Attack, Enemy Resistance Reduction
I'll list only the necessary information. To be honest, it's a weakling. However, a cockatrice is generally considered a decently strong monster. But at this level, it's no threat.
Shio steps in front of Atri.
Shio can nullify petrification with his Action Inhibition Resistance. The cockatrice uses Enemy Resistance Reduction, but that doesn't work against immunity.
Since I have the same skill, I understand how it works, Cockatrice.
"Present Paralysis!"
I stopped the high orc that was about to charge. Immediately afterward, Atri unleashed a Shining Slash imbued with Killing Blade.
All the monsters that appeared at the same time were cut in half.
An earring rolled out among the dropped items. After appraising it, the effect seemed weak, so I debated whether to take it. Let's pick it up for a golem I plan to acquire in the future.
